My name is Blandine L'hirondel. I'm 30 years old, except for trail running, I'm a bit of a "Mrs. Everyman". I never practiced any sport at a high level in my youth. I did a bit of gymnastics and dance like many girls! Then came the studies with more or less hard years, but also and especially, the party, the friends, the parties, the trips... a fulfilled student life! I discovered trail running at 25, and I haven't stopped since! And finally, here I am at 30, after 11 years of studies, an obstetrician gynecologist in Lozere!

Can you tell us about your passion ? What makes you tick? 

I need a balance, my own security, something to escape when work demands too much of me. And this is exactly what I find in trail running! But it's much more than that, it's a passion. Being in nature, alone (well often with my boyfriend but he's discreet 😊 ) soothes me.

And yes, I see you coming, indeed why do trail running at a high level if what makes me vibrate is "simply" the contact with nature?

I think that deep inside of me hides a little Blandine competitor, who likes to give the best of herself, and see how far her body can go!

How do you manage your preparation?

I have a coach who "tries" to make a workout plan for me despite all my constraints!

But so far it seems to be working. 

What is the best memory of your career?

As surprising as it may seem, not the arrival of the world championships, but the arrival of the race in Buis les Baronnies (selection race to enter the French team). This is the only race in my life where I had set a goal! 😂, and what a joy when we manage to reach it !

Do you have a race that makes you dream?

Yes, Zegama, but cancelled twice...

How important is sports nutrition to you?

I am more in favor of "prevention than cure". A good diet for the sportsman is done every day and all year long. I consider that you have to eat a balanced diet and in sufficient quantity to compensate for the losses due to sport, while knowing how to enjoy yourself!

But a rich diet is not always enough. That's why I have to supplement with a little magnesium, spirulina ... but always the most natural possible! And that's why I turned to Meltonic.

How do you use Meltonic products and what is your feedback after a few weeks/months of use?

Truth be told I've been using these products for 2 years 🤣. I'm not a big fan of gels, bars, and isotonic drinks on a daily basis, but I find them indispensable when running. I have a very good tolerance for Meltonic products. And I really like the flavors! The Iso drinks are light, the gels with a nice little honey flavor, and the bars delicious 😋.
